I was driving to work, overthinking as usual about just about everything. Am I on the right path? Do I have a purpose in life? Do you think that guy I just went on a date with liked me? Does anyone even read your blog, Samantha? Then a cardinal flew right in front of my window and I heard silence of my thoughts. Somehow the universe unravels as it should , as its supposed too. I like to think of these small moments , ie the cardinal as God winks, or just a small gesture from the universe to remind you , it’s got you.
Sometimes it’s a penny heads up or a dime, or seeing 11:11, but I am reminded to keep my chin up and stop overthinking and let life flow. A good friend of mine sent me a quote the other day . ” What is my purpose in life?” I asked the void. “What if I told you that you fulfilled it when you took an extra hour to talk to that kid about his life?” said the voice. “Or when you paid for that young couple in that restaurant? Or when you saved that dog in traffic? Or when you tied your father’s shoes for him? Your problem is that you equate purpose with goal-based achievement. God or the Universe or morality isn’t interested in your achievements… just your heart. When you choose to act out of kindness, compassion and love, you are already aligned with your true purpose. No need to look any further.”
This speaks volumes to me and about so many people I know. My heart is too big and gets me into trouble, but I wouldn’t trade the blessing and curse for anything. Sometimes you need a friend to remind you of the purpose you already serve that you’ve forgotten. Sometimes they need that reminder too.
I haven’t written much this week because I let the stress of my job and life takeover, but as the holiday weekend hits I have finally had a minute to gather my thoughts and spend some time in the now. I hope you all have a great holiday weekend and remember what is really important . Sending good vibes and positive light your way ☺️
