What You Focus On Grows

Wait, so it’s not really no worries, and it’s all good?

I am sure we have all heard this in some context in our lives. Does the minute you hear this, every thought in your head shift to rainbows and butterflies and positivity? Absolutely not. Do we sometimes have something going on in our lives that is in the forefront of our minds and our centric thoughts, making it nearly impossible to focus on anything else? fuck yes. It’s okay, we’re human.

But whether it is rainbows or rain, we’re focusing on it, and constantly feeding it.

In the past two weeks we found out that my father has a tumor and it is positive for pancreatic cancer. Again, my world has been turned upside down. I, again have the threat of another loss to this horrible disease . While I’d like to think I am numb, angry, and know this all to well, my mind hasn’t stopped thinking about it. All questions kept coming and my brain wouldn’t stop.

I think when our brain is nervous and unsure, it begins to think of every possible scenario, most negative, and some positive. But how we respond is what will ultimately be how it plays out. After some self realization, I reminded myself that all I can do is pray, all I can do is take it one day at a time, and stay positive.

Once I realized that I am the one that controls how I feel, what I think , and what I focus on, I decided to be positive, support whatever decisions my dad makes from here on out, and just focus on being there for the people in my life also going through their feelings and this diagnosis. I will not let my focus be on a downfall, but I will focus on his healing.

I saw the number 666 today, and while most people believe this is a number of the devil, it also holds a meaning in angel numbers. It gives an encouragement to refocus, it reminds you to not worry about earthly things that don’t matter, to focus on the bigger picture. I do not believe in coincidences. . .

The podcast I listened to on my way to work this morning also hit home. He was talking about a recession, well that by definition, we are technically already in one, but the point was, how are you going to prepare for what’s to come? What are you focusing on that is getting you ready for the next steps in life? If you spend the next year working and focusing on what it is you want, imagine what you can accomplish and who you can be.

Focus is everything because it follows our thoughts. Can you take a second today to reflect on an area in life that you should be shifting your thoughts and your focus? Whether it be what you think of yourself, to money problems. What we speak grows. I hope you’re kind to yourself today.
